The force on the street makes a difference, Deputy Fire Chief Charles Curry said, as he joined about 35,000 volunteers Monday night outside an abandoned apartment building. It seems to be helping. Among the volunteers was J.J. Webster, a 42-year-old cook who said that he was inspired by the recent Million Man March. There's a new spirit of determination by black men in the city, he said.

Most of the jobs which was admitted today by President Bill Clinton was ultimately the fault of the recent trade agreements like NAFTA, GATT, and others. So in a last-gap measure to stop the mass exodus of U.S. jobs, the U.S. government imposed stiff trade sanctions and tariffs on all imports. So Japan and China, which was the hardest hit by these sanctions, and they led a coordinated retaliation, and they've tried to liquidate $18.69 trillion of United States government debt today on the foreign exchange markets.

As a protest to the trade sanctions imposed on these countries because of the flood of imports into the United States. Now Japan is also deeply concerned about this US ability to honor its international debt obligation. Now according to a high-level US Treasury official, the only option the United States has is to print the US currency around the clock on all available funding presses with the emergency procedures that have been pre-established by the Federal Reserve in the event of this kind of financial catastrophe. Now these measures are taking place under a pre-established executive order, and over 25 trillion dollars, and that's with a T, dollars have been scheduled to be printed over the next 96 hours.

and President Bill Clinton were unavailable for comment today and they're apparently en route to an undisclosed location. Now Mike, this has added only fuels to flames to the fire and everybody is very, very nervous under this raging inferno and this total economic collapse of the United States dollar. Immediately most of the 13 million residents of Los Angeles descended upon their ATMs and financial institutions that were still open to demand their money back. Most realize and have heard that the banks will be closed, but some are hoping against all hope that this situation will correct itself by morning. There are tremendous runs on grocery stores and gas stations with folks piling up and stockpiling supplies. There have been reports of $40 gasoline popping up all over the city.

There have been numerous incidents of rioting, looting, and several large fires are left unchallenged, burning tonight in Los Angeles. Gunfire has been heard all over the city. The damage was initially restricted to central and south-central Los Angeles, but appears to have even affected the affluent areas around Los Angeles. Armed gangs have taken over entire neighborhoods, are inflicting their brutal form of violence on whomever crosses their path. Governor Pete Wilson has called President Bill Clinton and asked for federal troops to be immediately activated and dispatched to these hot spots in Los Angeles tonight.

There is serious talk that martial law will be enforced from dusk to dawn purview. The reason for the activation is that police by the hundreds, maybe thousands, have walked off the job. Most veterans from the Los Angeles riots just a few years ago, but because of the scope of this crisis, police officers have simply left, with all reports to defend and protect their own families. Police Chief Willie Williams has publicly stated that as many as 70% of Los Angeles' police officers have walked off the job. Gangs left unchecked by police have stripped guns, jewelry, groceries and electronic stores clean and been on a rampage of death and destruction around this town. Police Chief Willie Williams estimates that in the last hour and a half, over several thousand weapons have been turned loose on the streets of Los Angeles. LA tonight is an extremely deadly city. I'm quoting, I have asked several visiting UN peacekeeping forces, which were trained in the United States, to join up with the remaining local law enforcement units and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, my friends, that's FEMA, to assist us in maintaining order and peace on our streets.
