|0.00|> Choose life that you may live. What is life? Life is obedience to God. What is death? Rebellion to God.<|29.00|><|29.00|> Moses said, Obey God. Hearken unto His commandments, His laws and His statutes that I give you this day. This is the cry of all the prophets. Obey God. Jesus didn't say anything different. He said, Do ye not hearers of the word, but do as of the word. Jesus was not a rebel to the Father. Jesus said, Whatsoever I fear, that shall I speak. Whatsoever the Father commanded me, that I do. That's what makes Jesus the perfect leader, because he was perfect in obedience to God. The Koran says it over and over again, obey Allah and obey his messenger. When you keep talking obedience, man thinks you're trying to make him a slave. But what's wrong with being a slave, for God thinks you've been a slave to rightful and haven't got no benefit from it. But God is such a respectful master. He doesn't even want to force us. He appeals to us. because he loves us and he wants us to freely choose obedience to him. He gives you all the examples around you. Look, look, look, look at what rebellion does. Well, you see, God is love. And because God is love and I love men, I'm in obedience, I'm in compliance with God's law. I can't help it if I love you, Johnny. See, that's rational, deceptive intelligence. Rationalizing disobedience and rebellion to God. God don't like lesbians, you see. Reverend, if you can't preach the gospel, then get the hell out of the pulpit. Don't play with God and don't play with Jesus. Don't play with Muhammad and don't play with the prophets and the truth. Religion ain't no business where you hustle people in the name of God. He promised Muhammad pavilions and palaces. You don't have to rob and steal, lie and cheat. The heavens and the earth belong to your Father, and He wants to give it to you on condition Unconditioned! But you obey! Now, many say, I obey God. I remember a man who came to Jesus one day, and he said, well, what must I do to enter the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus said, well, you know, do the law. He said, well, I'm already doing the law. He said, oh, oh really? He said, well, go on and take your mistress and sell her and give her away to the floor, put up your claw, and you know what he does. Come follow me. You see, help me a little more. That man loves Jesus' family members. How many of us are like that? See, we are not sanctimonious righteousness, you hear me? Oh no, I don't smoke. I don't drink. I'm not homosexual. And by the way, since I said God doesn't like homosexuality, He likes sanitation. And I can't believe it. I just do that. I got to clear the whole deck. So that somebody in there say, well I ain't no homosexual, I'm straight. Hell no, there ain't nothing in here straight till you get straight. He don't like liars. Well, that meant everybody. Well, that means you got a lot of company. and makes it fair seeming. That's right. Yes sir. That's what Satan is. He makes evil fair seeming. And every one of us that has done evil, we try to rationalize it. Push your mind up like a clutch to justify mess. All right. We're almost at the end. Now, let's look at these cardinal things. In fact, I think they're very spiritual subjects. Very spiritual and exorcism. That's what I found doing the great work. I'm a chilling Satan. I love to kill him. I want to kill him in me, and I want to kill him in you, so you together can kill him in the world. I want you to hear me. Cardinal sins. Once the deceptive intelligence goes to work, the number one sin, setting up other gods beside God. The relationship between these cardinal sins and the casting out the demons who were coming out to women, screaming, What are you doing? You have no justice! Casting us out! Before time! And Jesus could have said, Fool, if there wasn't time, you wouldn't be coming out. Do you feel them demons coming up off of you? I've got a few more deliveries I want you to look at. Now, the number one demon that must be put in check is deceptive intelligence. Every time that slip rises up to rationalize disobedience, you gotta stop it right then. No, I'm not gonna do that. But I don't want to. Lord, help me reduce my weakness. Help me to put this retrograde mind in check. Go ahead. And what makes you do those kind of things? You pride yourself of being so intelligent. is pride, good before destruction. Most of us that have these degrees and really feel smart, you know, what the hell makes you smart? Destruction. What would you create with your intelligence? Not a damn thing. You create nothing, and you're depending on what a Creator created. Where did you get him, torture? What created the brain cells? No, no, no, wait a minute. The arrogance and false pride makes you pit your intelligence against the command of God. And of course, all of us are so intelligent. Yes, it is intelligent, but every one of us are crazy. I mean, I don't see too many sane people around here, because all of us at one time or another pit our intelligence against the instructions of God and come up feeling that we are right and God is wrong. That is insanity. has to do with making invidious distinctions or improper comparisons with others. That's a sin. So look at this. We are Christians, Muslims, and Hebrews, and Jews. We take our man to be Jesus. We should never use the comparative or superlative degrees of the adjective in describing the prophet of God. You never say Moses is better than Abraham, or Jesus is better than Moses, or Muhammad is better than them all. You can't say that! God says, in the Qur'an, I have made some of you to excel others. Not one of you made yourself that way. I made you. So don't give yourself more credit. Bring it back to God. But when you take your so-called beauty—some of you really think You have beauty. Some of you really think you're beautiful. If everybody told you, you're so beautiful, you're so handsome, you wear that stuff long enough, you begin to act like it. But then you look at somebody that don't look as what you think is beautiful. I am prettier than her. Oh! I've got more knowledge than her. Oh! I graduated from Harvard. That fool graduated from Tougaloo. Even besides loving the ingenious distinction to love yourself better than the next person, you're setting up sexism within yourself. You have to look at everything and focus for what it is, and say, God made this, God made that, God made this. I prefer this over that, but I can't say this is better than that unless God says that. Some of us talk—listen, listen to how stupid we sound, listen. How do you know how anybody else knows? What is the yardstick by which you compare? Comparisons lead to ending unjustice. Every human being was created with certain levels of tolerance. One person may be like tissue paper, another person may be like cardboard, another like wood, another like stone. Cardboard is stronger than tissue paper. Wood is stronger than cardboard. Stone is stronger than wood. Comparative degrees of the adjectives. It's okay. But when you say, I am, then you're in trouble. Because you are not permitted to use that kind of language when you didn't create yourself or nothing else. Now look, I can sing that. Look at Michael Jordan. Who's the baddest that ever did it? Maybe. Tomorrow, there'll be somebody else that's a pound of flesh, and McDonald won't need him no more. Nike won't need him any more. He's useful now. That's right. Invidious distinctions cause us to be envious and jealous of each other. Negative jealousy and envy are diseases of the heart that we're going to have to deal with as a people if we're ever going to move forward. Let me, let me please say this. I know what God has gifted me with as a gift, but that gift does not make me better than one person who sits in front of me or behind me. And if I act like I think that my gift makes me better than you and begin to act like that, then God removes his spirit from me. The only person who can let me be as better than you is the God who made me and the God who made you. And if God says, do my best, then you've got to leave the day. I can't say that, but God is well able to say that. Do you understand what I'm saying? All right. Now we're at the end. Jesus, I am the blood of life. If you eat from me, you shall never hunger. And he said that because the people didn't follow him anymore. They didn't know yet. But he said that because he represented the law of life, the law of obedience to God. And if you eat from Him and obey, you won't hunger. That's wonderful. You won't be subject to your appetite. Muhammad could make the same statement, I'm the bread of life, meaning that God has put the word of life in me. words, you won't fall victim to your lower appetite. Saul was a king over Israel, and Saul was told to kill all of a certain people. Don't take no women, no booty, no nothing. Kill it all. And then burn the land. Saw that out there, saw some signs, saw some gold and stuff, so he cared all right, but he didn't do what God said. So Saul comes back and Samuel says, hey, why didn't you do what God told you? He said, well, you know, the brothers were working hard, they were fighting, they were sacrificing, he said, wait a minute, obedience is better than sacrifice. And do you know why obedience is better than sacrifice? Because anybody can go in their pocket and give a dollar, because most of us try to pay our way through things. You join the church in social money, you'll live in heaven. Join the mosque, here, here, five thousand dollars. Whoa, that's a good deal. You don't know what the FBI gave him, five dollars, thousand, sold him a gift. He's a good runner. Now, I'd like to close this subject. I don't want anybody moving, because I want to bring this subject right down to today. Now, you think this is a very spiritual subject, but But what I really wanted to get to was in the last twenty years, Islam has been in the news almost every day. It's Muslim this or Muslim this, Hezbollah this, jihad that. that most of you don't know anything about, nejocity. So what is all of this for? With the fall of the Iron Curtain, an era in global politics came to a flip, as the Western world could no longer define itself in opposition to Communism. During the past few years, we have witnessed a return to a previous pattern in which the West seeks its reason for being by placing itself now in opposition to Islam. As a Jew during the Cold War, the United States portrays itself as a defender of liberty against totalitarian barbarism, but the symbols of evil are no longer taken from the evil empire which they served as Russia, but the symbols of evil are now taken from the Muslim world. So you have Saddam Hussein and Muammar al-Qaddafi portrayed as megalomaniacs, of some Ian Fleming novel, and they are made to represent Islam in the dichotomy of them versus us. Now, what I'm saying is a part of an introduction to a book written about Ru'afar Khan by an Islamic scholar from Sweden. Years ago when we used to come to the temple, it would scare us because we would come in the temple and see a blackboard, and on the right looking out or the left looking in, you saw the American flag on the left, and the flag of Islam on the right. And in the middle were these words, which one will survive the war of Armageddon? On the side where there was of the American flag, it said, Christianity with a black man hanging on a tree. And that this moment has freedom, justice, and equality. That when you walk in the temple and saw that black boy, whoa, these people are anti-American. But what the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was showing us was that the final battle for hegemony or control would be between two forces in the world, Islam and the West represented by America. I want you to hear me now. As was the case during the Cold War, this dichotomy is reflected in popular culture by the movie industry. So in productions such as Not Without My Daughter and True Lies, Muslims replace Communists as the scary aliens, the subhuman, merciless incarnations of evil, bent on destroying what is good and decent. Is it why most of you are afraid of Muslims and Islam and think this is some strange religion from some god in space or somewhere else? Now, Hollywood has weighed in in the culture war. Defenders of the valuable way of life are justified in exterminating this robot-like enemy who is beyond reason and human emotion. So the link between Arnold Schwarzenegger, which means black nigger, I believe—so that's what it means, Schwarzenegger's Arab hunt and the onslaught on Arab civilians and the onslaught on Arab civilians in Operation Desert Storm is obvious. The victims were mere stereotypes, impossible to identify with. CNN blurred the distinction between drama and reality in a war enacted as a live-action spectacle in our living room. The reason for returning to the opposition between the West and Islam is due not only to tradition, but to the global ambition of America in the West and Islam in the East. When President Bush proclaimed victory for the New World Order, he was offering a pre-dated vision of global hegemony for the American model of society. Before Nixon died, Nixon said, the enemy of American democracy is not Communism, it is fundamentalist Islam. So now the stage has been set for a war against Islam. A scholar by the name of Akbar Ahmed suggests that instead of the clumsy global classifications of First, Second, Third World, North, South, East, West, the world map of the 1990s can be divided into two major categories—civilizations that are exploding, reaching out, expanding, bubbling with scientific ideas, economic plans, political ambitions, cultural expressions, and those that are imploding, collapsing on themselves with economic, political, and social crises which prevent any serious attempt at major initiative. Though perhaps this is overly simplified, Atmur's perspective is still illuminating an understanding of the global trends of the 1990s. The imploding nations are like the Republic of Korea. This is what he writes, holds no serious threat to the exploding civilization, but in the present process of shaping a world culture or a global civilization, the American impact is set forth with a self-confident arrogance. The term American is not used here as a national or geographical, but a cultural concept, as its exploding character already transcends nationality and geography. So this writer chooses the term American because the United States is taking the lead in, and English is the lingua franca of a civilization that includes other nations and linguistic roots in the West, East, North, and South. So America has become the symbol of that which opposes Islam. I'm almost there, give me a minute, please. civilization with global ambition is characterized by consumerism and its cultural impact.
